Executive Director
Louisa County Historical Society
Katelyn Coughlan is the new Executive Director of the Louisa County Historical Society. A transplant Virginian, Katelyn grew up in New Jersey in a rural farming community, very much like Louisa. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in anthropology and interned with the National Park Service at their public archaeology lab in Philadelphia.Katelyn received her Masters's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Katelyn relocated to Charlottesville where she served the Department of Archaeology at Monticello and the Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery (DAACS) excavating, processing, and cataloging artifacts. Katelyn has worked at in all sectors of history preservation, at the federal, state, local, and private levels. Yet, her love of history is not about the things found in the ground or the archives, but in interacting with people and interpreting our history.
