Local developer David Hunter first planned this 81 unit town house development in 2015. The proposed development is on a point of land bordering on Pigeon Run, the Lake and Shaffers Cove, across from Anna Point Marina, just North of Rt. 208 on the Spotsylvania side of the lake. Originally all open boat slips and a covered slip shed were located on Shaffers Cove. Commercial Rezoning is required for approximately 47 acres, from Resort Commercial (RC)/ Resort Residential (RR) to Planned Development Housing 2 (PDH‐2). Given the amount of traffic, the development was changed to 3 covered slip sheds on the 3 bodies of water. Also, the entire waterfront has been rip-rapped to meet Spotsylvania/ Chesapeake Bay standards. The latest information that we have is that the Planning Commission recommended denial of the requested zoning change based on the amount of residential houses being out of conformance with the Long Range Comprehensive Plan. There has been no action by the Board of Supervisors. |
