Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources

"DWR's Perspective of Boating Safety on Lake Anna"

Stacey T. Brown, Boating Division Director, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources

Stacey has worked for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources as the Boating Safety Manager for fourteen years and was recently promoted to the position of Boating Division Director in 2023.  Her primary functions are to assist in the administration of all of the agency’s boating functions including boating outreach and education, waterways management, and boat titling and registration. Stacey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University.  

Sergeant Alan Hatmaker, Conservation Police Officer, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources

Sgt. Alan Hatmaker worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Fairfax County in 2005.  He is a graduate of the Fairfax County Policy Academy.  From there he became a Master Deputy Sheriff for Stafford Sheriff’s Office.  He attended and graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2013.  He started work for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources as a Conservation Police Officer in 2013.  In 2022, he was promoted to the position of Conservation Police Sergeant for DWR.
