Volunteers Needed for the Cal-Tri Richmond Triathlon

Cal-Tri is coming to Lake Anna on May 18, 2025 and LACA is providing Course Marshals for the swim portion. LACA has committed to providing a minimum of 10 volunteers who will kayak out to the swim course just prior to the warm-up period and remain on post until the last swimmer is back on land. The swim marshals are there to provide safety assistance if needed. County EMS personnel will be on hand for medical emergencies, so the swim marshals will be there to provide a rest platform or possibly a ride back to shore for those swimmers who cannot complete the swim.

There will be a food truck on-site all day and volunteers get free food. LACA provides a safety service and receives a $750 donation from Cal-Tri. This is a win for everybody; the athletes, the volunteers, LACA and Cal-Tri (which is a non-profit organization).

Details:

Let the Park Ranger know that you are there as a swim marshal and entrance to the park is free
Parking is near the boat ramp for swim marshals
7:15 am - Have your kayak/paddle/life jacket/water bottle ready to go on the boat ramp
7:15 am - Race day instructions
7:45 am - Be on the water beside the course
Around 9:15 am - return to boat ramp
Load up kayaks and visit the food truck

You will need to do a double registration. Once on the LACA site so that I have contact information in case any details change. For the LACA registration you can put more than one person on the same registration. Each volunteer must register on the Cal-Tri site and complete their registration (use the url below to go directly to the volunteer page). There is a spot on the Tri Cal registration to note you are a LACA volunteer. If you volunteered last year, sign in to the Tri-Cal website and your sign-up details will be pre-populated.

We will need 2 of our 10 volunteers to be on a jet ski. Let me know if you'd rather be on a jet ski than a kayak.
